Once
through the doors of the climate-controlled, 70-foot high
glass-enclosed conservatory, you see and hear at once a cascading
waterfall, obscuring your vision of what lies beyond. Navigating around
the waterfall, images sharpen to reveal a natural paradise that feels
like an exotic locale far, far away. Winding by a flowing river, you'll
enter the tropical warmth of a verdant rainforest shrouded in a light
mist, thick with unusual flowers and vegetation. You'll hear the call
of unfamiliar birds and
buzz of insects while jasmine and gardenia perfume the air.
Sight...Sound...Touch....Smell... every sense is heightened as you
proceed....
Exploring along the winding paths
of the conservatory, you progress at your own pace through four
changing ecosystems. The sights, sounds, temperature, air movement -
even the pathways -- signal transition upon entering each habitat. You
are transported through two lush rainforests to a cooler, open
savannah, amassed with fragrant flowers, that hints of the North
American prairie or a sun-drenched African veldt. Finally, you'll
travel to an arid desert where blooming cacti and a profusion of
brightly-hued wildflowers exist among the low scrub vegetation.
Each habitat brings forth a myriad of discoveries
and fascinating details, illuminated in a variety of ways: through
helpful volunteers, viewer-friendly graphics, a written Safari Guide,
interactive touch-screen monitors and even customized audio tours that
are narrated according to the listener's age, preferences, interests
and language!
